GM855 and HW acceleration, HEEELP!!!
It simply can't be true that this will not work for me...
I've been trying for days now... 3D HW Acceleration... HOWTO? I have an IBM R51 type 2887. Here are some more specs: OS: Debian Unstable X: XFree86 Version 4.3.0.1 (Debian 4.3.0.dfsg.1-12.0.1 20050223080930 joshk@triplehelix.org) Kernel: Linux bart 2.6.11.7 #1 Wed Apr 20 11:58:49 CEST 2005 i686 GNU/Linux I've tried i810, i830 and i915, but I simply can't get the thing to use #D HW Acceleration... Which driver should I use? How about X settings...? HEEEEEELP /TuxTail |
For XFree 4.3 you need to use the i810 driver (in you XF86Config file). Make sure that the i830 dri module is loaded (i915 is for XOrg 6.8.1 and newer), and uncomment the following line in your XF86Config file:
load "dri" That should do it. BTW, if you upgrade to XOrg 6.8.1 or newer, you will have to prevent the i830 module from loading, as it will cause X to not start. Here are the relevant sections in my xorg.conf file (they will be the same in the XF86Config file): # This loads the GLX module Load "glx" # This loads the DRI module Load "dri" and: Section "Device" Identifier "i855" Driver "i810" #VideoRam 32768 # Insert Clocks lines here if appropriate EndSection The driver should be the only thing that you need to change here Eric |
