Getting Etherape to work on OpenSuse 11.1

Hi,

I have a Sony VAIO VGN-C2SL which has a intel wireless network card and also a wired ethernet card; and i just installed OpenSuse 11.1 on it.

Each time i try to run etherape on my new OpenSuse 11.1 installation i get the following error message: Error getting device: no suitable device found.

I'd appreciate it if i could get to know what to do in order to fix tis.

Thanks

Are you running it as root? I'm not sure why but it has to be ran as root.

Hi,
thanks for your replies, but i thought that it was not a safe idea to login as root in linux? so how am i going to run this program as root if i am not expected for my own safety to login as root?
thanks

Well, sometimes running it from the menu, some distros ask for root password before it launch. You also can do it from a terminal window, command line.

Open a terminal window, at the $ prompt type

su -
type in your root password

at the # prompt type
etherape & and press Enter. that should open it up.
