Question Gateway Notebook with Intel® Celeron® M Processor 520


i am going to purchase this laptop this week. i have been doing a lot of reading on knoppix and was feeling pretty good about using it but i joined this forum this morning and see knoppix has trouble with laptops. i am a complete "newbie" is there a distro great for newbies and laptops all at the same time. and i am not afraid to learn.

and the other details of the laptop:

Intel® Celeron® M processor 520 with 533MHz frontside bus, 1MB L2 cache and 1.6GHz processor speed
512MB PC2-5300 DDR2 memory for multitasking power, expandable to 2GB
DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive

There's plenty of new live cd distros that should work without bragging on any. Everyone has their preferences. Most of the late model live cds come in a pretty complete package. You may have to do a little work on the wireless network and modem. Try "Google" live linux cd and you will find a numerous list.
