ftp help

I just installed RH8 on my computer but i cannot ftp into my machine from other locations on the LAN. I used to be able with RH6 but for some reason i can't now. Does anyone know why this is??
I can however sftp to it or SSH to it but i am still wondering about the ftp problem.
