Fn keys not working on Acer Aspire One with Ubuntu Intrepid

I installed Ubuntu Intrepid on my Acer Aspire One but the Fn keys don't work : Alt + F1 does nothing and neither does Alt + F2. The "multimedia" keys are working eg volume, brightness etc. I tried to edit the keyboard shortcut for the "run" dialogue in Gnome but pressing "Alt + F1" in the edit dialogue leaves the shortcut "Super L" which seems to be mapped to Alt so pressing Alt invokes "run." That sounds confusing I hope you understand.

I installed Debian Lenny and I have the same issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Do you mean:

Alt+F1 and Alt+F2 works for me.

I'll come back to you once I get all the updates installed in my installation of Ubuntu 8.10.

Hello
Not sure about your quote. That's not what I said. I am talking about Alt+F1 & Alt+F2 (for Gnome Menu and for the Run dialogue respectively.)
I don't understand why "Alt" comes up as "Super L" when I try to set a keyboard shortcut for the run dialogue. It's not possible to have "Super L + F1" .... unfortunately!

I might try a test and upgrade to Jaunty.
