Hi guys
I'm think I experiencing the same problems as MadChipmunk. First I did a total standard install of Debian Squeeze, but after first reboot, about 5 sec after Grub "Welcome to GRUB"-message everything just flickers. So I did a new, smaller install until I ran
(because didnt have the xorg.conf) and rebooted. Again the screen starts flickering madly constantly. (Not occasional flickering.)
I then ran
Code:
apt-get purge xserver-xorg-core xinit
, rebooted and the flickering was gone.
My hardware is:
Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 @ 2,00 GHz x64
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600, 256 MB
More specs are found
here (or by asking me).
Sadly, because I used "purge", logs and confs are gone. I have compared dmesg.0 (from flicker-boot) and dmesg.1 (last boot before flickering) without seeing anything obvious. I'm quite new at Linux, so I might be missing something.
dmesg.0
dmesg.1
I know it's enormous and unspecific, but I don't know where else to search for errors... Being new to Linux that flickering screen looked nasty. It would feel great to know why. (Please excuse my English, I'm not a native speaker.)
