Unhappy Firmwire controller ohc1394 problem ?????

hope every thing is going fine with you,

Išve tried to install Fedora core 1 in Laptop Compaq nx 9010, the Installation Completed Successfully but, when i power it on nothing happen !! i mean it stop Responding, I have nothing to do, no ability to use the Interactive startup, no command line, nothing !!!!!

i have tried the steps which listed on the

http://linux-laptop.net/

i get the HP compaq nx 9005 as

http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/compaq.html

ya3ni ( I get nothing) , any way i tried many ways ( DIsabling Legacy Drives, infrared, pcmcia, etc...)

at last i change the fedora with RH9 (loolz)
it stops responding when INstallation Begin !!!!!

I lose hope !!!

can you help ???????

I think the Firmwire controller ohc1394 is the Reason for my problem, Linux didnŽt support this.

IŽve tried the Fedora, RH9, and the Mandrake 9, but all of them stop respnding when initializing this device.

no way to disable it from the Bios setup.
what do you think ?

I had the same problem with my nx9010 trying to install slackware 9.1 on it
I've been successful not configuring "hotplug" during istallation.
This allows you to install and then run slack with 2.4.22 kernel. No sound and many other things, but, important you can compile the 2.6.2 kernel with an experimental 1394 ohci driver that works, at least not crashing at boot.
Kernel 2.6.2 works almost perfectly on my nx9010, I still have problems with the modem and Linuxant drivers but I'm confident they will be fixed by a couple of days.
I also tryed 2.6.3 Kernel but 1394 ohci driver seems not to be supported any more... strange, and with this I also experienced problems with the sound card.
Hope this helps
Ciao
PS Can you post some experience, if you have of course, how to enable DMA on cdrom as well?
