Fingerprint reader not working

I am using Fedora 12 on my Laptop, Dell M6400, and want to enable the fingerprint reader. If I go to System => Preferences => About me I can't see any option to enable the fingerprint reader. The hardware is working under Windows

In Linux it can work if PAM is installed. I don't not know if this is the case for fedora 12, I am Slackware user.

I saw a report of somebody having it working on an other Dell model with Debian Lenny distribution though, see here.
