Question Fedora27, AMD Carrizo

This "Part 2" of my struggle with getting Carrizo ( A10 Radeon R6) to work on HP laptop. To get it to work at all, I had to stay with Fedora 24 and pin xorg package on 1.17 X version. All that with proprietary driver installed.
System was unstable - constant ( once a few hours) spontaneous changes in resolution, keyboard not typing..

so i upgraded to F27 ( including all x org packages).
Code:
abrt-addon-xorg-2.10.5-1.fc27.x86_64
xorg-x11-xinit-1.3.4-16.fc27.x86_64
xorg-x11-server-utils-7.7-23.fc27.x86_64
xorg-x11-utils-7.5-25.fc27.x86_64
xorg-x11-xauth-1.0.9-9.fc27.x86_64
xorg-x11-fonts-misc-7.5-18.fc27.noarch
xorg-x11-drv-amdgpu-1.3.0-3.fc27.x86_64
xorg-x11-server-common-1.19.5-1.fc27.x86_64
xorg-x11-xkb-utils-7.7-21.fc27.x86_64
xorg-x11-font-utils-7.5-35.fc27.x86_64
xorg-x11-fonts-ISO8859-1-100dpi-7.5-18.fc27.noarch
xorg-x11-proto-devel-7.7-23.fc27.noarch
xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.19.5-1.fc27.x86_64
I also installed amd driver :
Code:
[root@hp ~]# rpm -qa | grep amd
xorg-x11-drv-amdgpu-1.3.0-3.fc27.x86_64
and the HW is :
Code:
[root@hp ~]# lscpu
Architecture: x86_64
CPU op-mode(s): 32-bit, 64-bit
Byte Order: Little Endian
CPU(s): 4
On-line CPU(s) list: 0-3
Thread(s) per core: 2
Core(s) per socket: 2
Socket(s): 1
NUMA node(s): 1
Vendor ID: AuthenticAMD
CPU family: 21
Model: 96
Model name: AMD A10-8700P Radeon R6, 10 Compute Cores 4C+6G
<skip>

[root@hp ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release
Fedora release 27 (Twenty Seven)

lspci -v

I removed /etc/X11/xorg.conf and left only amdconf:
Code:
ls -l /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
total 8
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 232 Aug 8 23:06 00-keyboard.conf
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 130 Dec 1 23:25 20-amdgpu.conf
[root@hp ~]# cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-amdgpu.conf
Section "Device"
	Identifier "Carrizo"
	Driver "amdgpu"
	Option "Accel" "on"
	Option "DRI" "3"
	Option "TearFree" "on"
EndSection
The boot gets me a low resolution terminal only. yet the kernel driver seemed to be present:
Code:

The attempt to enable mystro256's copr didn't work out:
Code:

<blah>
Repository successfully enabled.
[root@hp ~]# dnf check-update
Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'mystro256-amd-staging-kernel', disabling.
and that is because there is no copr for F27 ( only for F26).

The firmware seemed to be inplace:
Code:
[root@hp ~]# ls /lib/firmware/amdgpu/car*
/lib/firmware/amdgpu/carrizo_ce.bin /lib/firmware/amdgpu/carrizo_mec.bin /lib/firmware/amdgpu/carrizo_sdma1.bin /lib/firmware/amdgpu/carrizo_vce.bin

/lib/firmware/amdgpu/carrizo_mec2.bin /lib/firmware/amdgpu/carrizo_rlc.bin /lib/firmware/amdgpu/carrizo_uvd.bin

Any ideas what i might be overlooking?

I took "nomodeset" out of boot and added amdgpu.si_support=1 amdgpu.cik_support=1 .
Code:
Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.13.16-300.fc27.x86_64 root=/dev/mapper/fedora_hp-root ro rd.lvm.lv=fedora_hp/root rd.lvm.lv=fedora_hp/swap a
mdgpu.cik_support=1 amdgpu.si_support=1 rhgb quiet LANG=en_US.UTF-8
That didn't lead to any noticeable changes, but allowed me to manually load the amdgpu module.

modprobe amdgpu led to black blank screen with the messages:

i see that backlight service failed. Adding acpi_backlight=vendor to kernel boot params didn't do any good :
Code:

i added a mesa-vulkan rpm and now it doesn't look like X starts at all - the /var/log/X.org.log has an older timestamp...
Code:
Name : mesa-vulkan-drivers
Version : 17.2.4
Release : 2.fc27
Arch : x86_64
Size : 6.4 M
Source : mesa-17.2.4-2.fc27.src.rpm
Repo : @System
From repo : updates

at the same time xset q works....
