fedora not detecting audio card on my new hp laptop
 

I bought a new HP PAVILLION DV4 1211TU last week,I installed fedora 8 and then installed VLC player in it for multimedia purpose.But videos running smoothly without audio ,What will I do ?

I tried all types of possibilities as far as I know like updating the audio package,changng the audio device and adding modules to /etc/modprobe.conf etc.., but failed..

Since no audio,I'm gone MAD!!!

I would try installing fedora 11 and see how that fairs. Fedora 8 is pretty old at this point and no longer supported AFAIK. Also, fedora 12 should be coming out within the next month(currently set for November 17). Finally, unless you can post your relevant hardware(integrated sound chipset) it's really impossible to give you any kind of meaningful advice.
