Unhappy Fedora Installation problems with external CD-R Firewire

I'm currently using RedHat 9 with my Acer laptop. I recently downloaded Fedora Core 1 and I wanted to install it ASAP. Unfortunately, the SBP-2 driver did not work during hardware detection prior to the actual installation. I tried the installation option "linux firewire" and still it wouldn't work. The funny thing is my RedHat 9 installation process went along without any hitches.

Would I need to any additional tools for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
