Fedora Core 5 Installation Problems

I am running a Sony VAIO laptop that is 5 years old. I want to install Fedora Core 5 onto it. When I press "enter" at the boot prompt, it starts with the black background with white words scrolling. It does this until it gets to the following line:

ACPI:Subsystem revision 20060127

Why is the system hanging on this line? Is there a boot code to bypass ACPI checking?

Thanks,
knoppixguy

Try booting with typing the following at the place you'd normally just hit return...

linux acpi=noirq
