fedora core 2 on compaq presario 2500

i'm trying to install fedora core 2 on a compaq presario 2500 laptop. however, i'm having a few problems.

first, i'm stuck on a 640x480 resolution. is there any way i can fix it?

second, it won't detect my wireless internet card. can i manually configure it, or is there some other way to make it work?

if no one has any suggestions on how to help me, can someone at least tell me at version of linux that would be quick to install and use? the only requirement i have is that it has to run xfce. i really like FC2, but if i have to change to get it to work, then i will.

someone help, quick. i'm going thru withdrawals without my linux

Have you checked the xf86config file? there's a section about screen resolutuions, it might only have entrys for 640x480.

What make wireless card?

never mind about the xf86config file. i found it and changed it. now fedora is running in beautiful 1024x860 resolution. now the next problem is my wireless card.

windows lists it as HP WLAN 54g W450 Network adapter. when i try to manually configure the network device on FC, nothing similar to this is listed. it also gives me this error at startup:

Bringing up interface eth0:
Determining IP information for eth0...failed; no link present. Check cable?
