fedora core 2 doesn*t start on AMILO

I have a Fujitsu siemens AMILO. I recently upgraded my Linux from Redhat 9 to fedore core2.
Now during the linux startup "Updating /etc/fstab" hangs. Following is written to /var/log/messages.

Aug 29 19:31:31 localhost kernel: ide-cd: cmd 0x3 timed out
Aug 29 19:31:31 localhost kernel: hdc: lost interrupt
Aug 29 19:31:31 localhost kernel: hdc: cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason = 0x01)

I have one hard drive and one DVD-RW. I am not able to understand what went wrong.

Could some body suggest a solution for this.

Many thanks in advance

Amilo 7400

I've got problems too with my new Amilo7400 and FC2.

I've instaled it from DVD without problem, but the instaled system can't read the drive. Neither CDROM or DVD. Kernel messages talk about sectors not found. Any clue?

Sorry that I can't really help you

I Had exactly the same problem on my Amilo A 3000+ with SuSE 9.1

Have been looking around o nthe web for a while ... found others with the same problem,... but not the beginning of an idea what might be the problem.

But when I tested FC2 a while ago, I had some other problem I can't remember... it appeared at the first boot after installation and I NEVER saw the System running...

In the end I gave it up and used Slackware Linux 10.0 ... works perfectly from the very first moment on.

Greetings, Sascha

this is after doing a full install from the DVD?

because it doesn't make too much sense that the installation goes perfectly fine....and then on reboot of the sucessful installation you can't boot... that sounds a little odd.

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook C Series....and Fedora runs perfectly on it.

Well,... I guess this might be a problem with the 2.6.* Kernel ... if I remember rigth FC 2 does install it by standart ... and, what my case was, SuSE 9.1 does so too...

In my research o nthe web, everyone with this problem had a 2.6.* kernel ...

And if I am informed right, you don't need SCSI anymore to talk to your CD/DVD-RW if you use the 2.6.* kernel... maybe something went wrong during the development of this feature ... ??? But, I don't know ... I am not that deep into all this ... just guessing around ;-)

Have a nice day!

Greetings, Sascha
