Fedora Core 1, Dell Inspiron 5100, battery

I'm pretty new to Linux.

I have fedora core 1 installed on a Dell Inspiron 5100. I just recently discovered Battery Charge Monitor 2.4.1 and stuck it in the taskbar, but it does not work. It tells me my battery has zero charge. I've fiddled with the preferences but didn't find anything that I thought might fix the problem.

This would be a very handy tool if i could figure out how to get it to monitor my battery.

Please help

I am using Redhat 9.0 in sony vaio and have had the similar problem. I had to compile the kernel to get ACPI support. Which kernel you are using?
