OK, I'm about to give up on Red Hat altogether. I have a really strange problem where my sound is working under Fedora Core2 Test2 using the OSS drivers but only for the GUI - related events. When I try to play CD's or MP3s in XMMS or the CDplayer I get nothing. Although, I have made sure that the ALSA drivers are unmuted and everything is set properly both through the GUI and through alsamixer.

If anyone has any tips on getting the sound working properly or if anyone has seen this issue where the sound only works for the GUI then please let me know!!!!!!!

Also, I absolutely HATE up2date! I guess I'm going to have to move over to APT. I have never had so much trouble getting up2date to work. It constantly hangs up or will download and install rpms, Finish will highlight, but not all of the rpms are really installed.


Oh yeah, did I mention that I HATE up2date after trying to use Fedora C2T2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
