I just wanted to note that the Live DVD of Fedora 8 seems to work on the HP Pavilion dv6780se. That's the Special Edition, clay-colored model being sold at BestBuy stores.

I bought this one for my wife and booted it to the Fedora 8 Live DVD.
Even the Intel 802.11N wireless worked (albeit connecting to a G router). I did have a bit of difficulty getting it to connect back to the wired network after being connected to the wireless one. It initially connected fine to the wired network at boot time.
I was able to play sound with it, surf a bit, but I wasn't able to test the sound recording or webcam with it. I didn't see any apps in the Live CD to test that out. If anyone knows of an app on the Fedora 8 CD that can do that, let me know and I'll give it a try.
