Fedora 6 setup is not recognizing the sata HDD on laptop
I am trying to install Fedora linux 6 on LG laptop, model XNOTE E500 but it is not recognizing the SATA HDD during the installation.
About HDD configuration taken from BIOS setup Vendor : FUJITSU MHW2120BH Size : 120.0 GB LBA mode : Supported Block Mode: 16 Sectors PIO mode: 4 Async DMA: MultiWord DMA-2 Ultra DMA : Ultra DMA-5 S.M.A.R.T. : Supported LBA/Large Mode : Auto Block (Multi Sector Transfer) : Auto PIO Mode : Auto DMA Mode : Auto S.M.A.R.T. : Auto 32 Bit Data Transfer : Enabled Any suggestions ..how I can get rid of this problem and install fedora in my laptop. |

yes i have tried but it did not work ...later in one thread I found that the fedora kernel versions later than 2.6.20 has support for SATA. I am using fedora linux kernel version 2.6.18.2 which according to this thread is not supported.
I could not tried it yet ...I will try it ..and I will acknowledge if it is successful. |
You can also try the kernel options:
all-generic-ide noapic nolapic Have you chek the BIOS for a PATA compatability mode? |
