Question Fedora 6 on a Dell Inspiron E1705

I've installed a copy of Fedora 6 on my Dell Inspiron E1705; a dual-boot configuration between that and Windows XP. I've installed other distrobutions before on here; bur have since removed them.

Anyways, whenever I power it up and select the boot option for the Fedora, she goes all the way through the processses; but instead of the GUI coming up on the screen, she goes right to the "Command Prompt" (for lack of better words) and asks for the login and password. Of course, I am able to log in under the root; but because I'm realtively new and still learning, I have no idea how to get up to the desktop from there.

I did notice when I was installing that the machine was unable to run the full graphic mode because the X Server could not initialize. I'm thinking that this may have something to do with it; but funny how it never did this with Ubuntu or Xandros...

Any ideas or suggestions?
