fedora 10 wireless

I was trying to get this working under RedHat but switched to Fedora to see if that would work.

I do see my wireless card in fedora now.

How do I see my networks? I can look at my windows system and see several open and secure networks.

Hows does fedora handle this? I do not see any and when I try to activate my wireless card it deactivates my hard wired setting and never activates my wireless.

I am doing various searches in google and here but nothing similar is coming back. I have tried a few of the suggestions other have made on other posts but they dont seem to work.

What is network device control? It will not launch for me.

error is msg window

SELinux is preventing consoletype (consoletype_t) "read" to /var/lib/dhclient/dhclient-wlan0.leases (dhcpc_state_t). Detailed DescriptionSELinux denied access requested by consoletype. It is not expected that this access is required by consoletype and this access may signal an intrusion attempt. It is also possible that the specific version or configuration of the application is causing it to require additional access. Allowing AccessSometimes labeling problems can cause SELinux denials. You could try to restore the default system file context for /var/lib/dhclient/dhclient-wlan0.leases, restorecon -v '/var/lib/dhclient/dhclient-wlan0.leases' If this does not work, there is currently no automatic way to allow this access. Instead, you can generate a local policy module to allow this access - see FAQ Or you can disable SELinux protection altogether. Disabling SELinux protection is not recommended. Please file a bug report against this package.

I got the network device control to launch. I had to login as root on the console. would not launch under my id. even though i set my id to group 0 so I should have been root.

Hello,

I've had had the same problem with wireless in Fedora 10 on my Dell Inspiron 1525, and for me, installing some packages did the trick.
I installed "broadcom-wl" package form rpmfusion repository, and wireless works now.

Since I'm poorly experienced with laptop wireless devices, I'd have to recommend you use Network Manager to handle your wireless connections (this was recommended to me by the Red Hat Certified Instructor and Examiner, he said it's the only thing Network Manager is good for), although I occasionally dread the aforementioned utility myself.

Best regards,
