Question FC4 on hp pavillion ze5620

Hi,
Earlier i tried to install RedHat 9.0 which was installed but with a small screen size,
now i got FC4 images written on CDs,
but there was a problem reported.

I have windows xp home edition installed on my laptop. (with service pack 2)
i unallocated a 10GB space for installing linux.
i put the FC4-image1 CD into the CD-rom.
and reboot the system.
i ve checked if in the boot sequrence, the CD-rom option is prior to HardDisk option.

what i ve observed is:
it waits for some time showing me a blinking cursor,
and then boots using existing Windows XP.

i am unable to install FC4 because of this.

Can you please help me in this regard,

Regards,
Hrishikesh

* Did you burn it correctly (like burn the CD from the image and not just copy the image file onto the CD)?
* Do you know if your CD drive works?

Hi,

You guessed it right.
I had just copied the images onto the CD.
I ve now burnt the CDs from the images.
and now i am able to install fedora core 4.
one thing i wanted to ask though,

Can you please tell me what should be the partitions given
if i am having 10GB for fedora core 4 ?
like
how much space should be given for
/home
/usr
/opt
/usr/local
/
how much should be the swap space ?
