FC3 unable to upload firmware for 3Com 802.11g card

Hi all,

I'm having trouble getting my 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless 11g to work with FC3. This card worked a treat under FC2. Before adding the card and running kudzu I copied the firmware (isl3890) to /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/ as advised on the Prism54.org site.

The errors I get are as follows when attemting ifup eth1:

Determining IP information for eth1...SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory
SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory
failed.

dmesg shows :

eth1: islpci_open()
eth1: resetting device...
eth1: uploading firmware...
prism54: request_frimware() failed for 'isl3890'
eth1: could not upload firmware ('isl3890')
eth1: islpci_open()
eth1: resetting device...
eth1: uploading firmware...
prism54: request_frimware() failed for 'isl3890'
eth1: could not upload firmware ('isl3890')

Any and all help as always is most appreciated

Andy

I have resolved this issue peeps.

Make sure that the firmware is not executable!! it was only when I did an ls -l on /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware did I notice that the firmware was 755

How dumb do I feel....

I forgot to say that for some reason the firmware should be in /lib/firmware and NOT /usr/lib/firmware
