FC3 IBM t41 & Wireless
Absolute newb making the switch guys....
I just wiped windows off my ibm thinkpad and put FC3 on it. I would love to get the wireless card working but haven't a clue where to start. Is there anyone that can point me in the right direction.... Also, i've read the installation notes that come with it but don't understand them, so i'm looking for something in "simple" terms.....thanks |
OK, you have an atheros chipset, more than likely. Try lspci -v -v and verify that chipset is listed like this:
02:02.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01) Now, go here and follow the instructions for obtaining CVS of the madwifi driver: http://www.mattfoster.clara.co.uk/madwifi-faq.htm It'll be a fine Linux education for you. Make sure if you update your kernel to recompile the driver or you'll be back to square one. Shannon |
