FC3 AMD64 on an eMachines 6811: sound, ntfs, etc issues
I just installed FC3 on an eMachines M6811, and am having lots of problems. No sound (on either via onboard sound module or external Audigy NX module, although both are detected), no NTFS support in the kernel (it's a dualboot), screen runs at wrong resolution (LCD's native is 1280x800, so I'm going to have a hack at xorg.conf to see if I can get it to work).
Are all these problems caused by user error, linux-on-laptop wonkiness, or the fact that 64-bit distros aren't there yet?
I need this machine to do scientific computing (using a program I have written myself and can compile for any architecture), but it's also my main workstation and gaming machine.
Is it possible to get a 64-bit distro that also has support for things like ntfs, laptop sound, and the like? If not, what's a laptop-friendly 32-bit distro?
