i figured it out myself. Because i've loaded acpi module before, speedstep-ich cannot be loaded. I put speedstep-ich at the first place in my /etc/module then remove acpi module. It works now.

I am having the same problem and I cant figure out how to load speedstep-ich before acpi. If you could let me know how you did it, what files you changed, that would be great. Thanks

hi, lumbrjackedpcj. Check out the file /etc/modules

all the modules to be loaded are listed there

you just add a line "speedstep-ich" and comment out the line "acpi" with # if there is one.

I did it this way. Good luck.
