Ethernet problem

Hi to all,

I've recently installed fedora 11 on my Sony Vaio W series.
Everything works perfect except when im trying to connect to internet using the ethernet adapter. It says network disconected.
BTW wireless works.
Any help?

Thanks.

RE - Ethernet Problem

First, go to terminal and run ifconfig and paste the output back here. That should help us get a better understanding of where the problem is.

Have you tried disconnecting from the wireless network? If not do so and then try connecting via ethernet.

Have you tried adding a new interface for your ethernet adapter using the GUI? If I remember correctly it should be under System-->Network Connections or something similar. I have no idea why but in the past I've added a new instance to the list with the exact configuration of the one that wasn't working and had no problems afterwards

Anyway, make sure you're connecting automatically, be sure DHCP is on if you're using that, and let us know how that works out.

Looking at the output I can see you're not connected on wireless but that's about the extent of it. I need you to answer the other questions I had asked first; sorry I can't be more helpful up front.

At the moment it appears that both wireless and wired interfaces are up but neither one is being assigned an IP address. Did you delete the IP address from wlan0 in your post? As already posted check the configuration to make sure the adapter is configured for DHCP and enabled.
