i cant seem to get sound to work on my ibm thinkpad
i tried rh9 to no avail
and am installing slackware now

i have googled essolo and i can find an esssolo.c file
im assuming i would have to compile this into the kernel
but i have no idea how to

how would i recompile the kernel to support this sound card?
or is there an easier way?

I've got a thinkpad with an esssolo based audio card. Its already a precompiled audio module typically. If you're installing slack 9.1, they've switched to alsa, but hotplugging should kick in, so the first thing to run would be alsaconfig.

Cheers,
