Question ENE CB1410 and Acer Aspire 3620

I have an Acer Aspire 3620 laptop and currently running CentOS 4.3 with stock kernel 2.6.9-34.EL. The CB1410 carbus controller is detected and using IRQ 10. My problem with the cardbus is that Linux it did not detect my FireWire or SATA card inserted into the cardbus slot.

Here is the lspci output:

On Windows XP environment, the CB1410 is using IRQ 22 and the my Firewire or SATA card works well. Anyone has any suggestions what I should do to make my Firewire card work with the cardbus?

cardbus on acer aspire 3620

you can try to pass to the kernel following line: pci=assign-busses.
I think on acers the cardbus controller is behind pci bridge.

I found the Ubuntu distribution was able to detect the PCMCIA card (SATA and Firewire) inserted. You have to get this version of Ubuntu 6.0.6 with kernel version 2.6.15.

I have tried all these distributions and none of them was able to detect my SATA or Firewire card inserted into the slot:
Fedora x
Centos 4.x
RedHat 4.x
Knoppix 4.x
Tao 1.x

Another thing good about the Ubuntu distribution is that it also configure my X to fit my widescreen laptop with the proper resoltuon. In addition, you can also try to run OS off the CD before deciding to install on your hard disk! So do give Ubuntu a try if other distributions doesn't work for you.
