Emachines M5310 3D Acceleration in Linux

Does anyone have info on getting 3D Acceleration working in Linux? I have a SuSE 9.0 Personal Distro on my Emachines M5310. I'm using kernel 2.4.21-99-athlon. I've tried using the Radeon 9000 drivers which allow you to select 3D, but when you save the settings it disables it.

That's your ticket, all of the info you need is right there but it will take a lot of reading to get it figured out. Key things, you need a 2.6 kernel with AGP support and DRI. AGP is built into the kernel and DRI is compiled as a module.

The guy has a package of the xfree86 all setup for the IGP320. Look for the package, download it and do any setup instructions he has. The key is what he says in that paragraph because there are a few things you need to do so pay attention. If you play your cards right you should be able to get it working.

I did this on Mandrake 9.2 myself. Good luck.

Thanks

Thanks for the fast reply. I will try this. I have to wait for my laptop to get back from the shop for repairs, but as soon as I have success I'll let you know. Also, do you have info on getting ACPI set up properly so the CPU is controlled and I have access to standby/hibernate, etc.?
