Exclamation echi-hcd USB 2.0 Problem

I'm trying to install slackware 9 on my compaq 2548EA laptop. All goes well during boot until it looks at the usb 2.0 drivers

the line that the boot stops on is

hcd.c: echi-hcd @ 00.0b.2, VIA Technologies, Inc. USB 2.0

Does anyone know how to fix this problem, or evn how to just bypass it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah i have this problem on my higrade notino laptop, when it hits uhci, it will work again on rebooting the machine, but if if stops totally then just recompile your kernel and remove that option in the kernel )
