DWL 650+ and new kernel...

I also posted this on the acx100.sourceforge.net forum but had no reply. unfortunately. Here is my problem, I build the pre5 driver for kernel 2.6.0, applied only the a0 patch. I use Debian unstable; I rebuild the kernel and afterwards I have build the modules. When I insert the acx100_pci module with insmod it all works fine, the firmware gets loaded; however if i do

$ modprobe acx100_pci

it will not work. It is so weird as insmod works and modprobe doesn't I am sure it has to be some sort of config issue.

Has anyone of you the pre5 working with kernel 2.6.0-test9? If so can you maybe explain me how you did it? maybe I did something wrong (even if the card works if I insert the module with insmod)? Or maybe I am making a mistake with modprobe? I just want my wireless to work... snifsnif

modprobe returns the following error:

Nov 12 18:34:11 BlackCell kernel: Failed to download firmware to the ACX100
Nov 12 18:34:11 BlackCell kernel: acx100_probe_pci: TI acx100_pci: MAC initialize failure!

Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: acx100: It looks like you were coaxed into buying a wireless network card
Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: acx100: that uses the mysterious ACX100 chip from Texas Instruments.
Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: acx100: You should better have bought e.g. a PRISM(R) chipset based card,
Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: acx100: since that would mean REAL vendor Linux support.
Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: acx100: Given this info, it's plain evident that this driver is EXPERIMENTAL,
Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: acx100: thus your mileage may vary. Visit http://acx100.sf.net for support.

Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: Allocating 6616, 19D8h bytes for wlandevice_t
Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: hw_unavailable = 1
Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: reset hw_unavailable++

Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: Failed to download firmware to the ACX100
Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: acx100_probe_pci: TI acx100_pci: MAC initialize failure!
Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: fail hw_unavailable++
Nov 12 18:37:56 BlackCell kernel: acx100_pci: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -5

Below is the part from modules.conf

### update-modules: start processing /etc/modutils/acx100_pci
options acx100_pci firmware_dir=/etc/acx100fw/

### update-modules: end processing /etc/modutils/acx100_pci

I have also tried doing a

$ depmod -a

but no luck either.

Thx for you advice
