hey all, i just installed ubuntu 8.10 and am enjoying it so far. the wireless card i have finally works out of the box and the whole thing feels a little more responsive. there are a few issues though which may be related
1. the touch sensitive (capacitive) buttons do not work. i can no longer turn up and down my volume or anything like that. it worked in hardy and gutsy, why not now? i have no clue where to start on this one
2. the brightness controls are glitchy. if you turn the brightness up or down too quickly they don't work but instead flash random brightnesses it seems.
thanks for your help. i would love to know how to fix this or at least where to start
Hmmm, i have a similar laptop, and have found it better to wait with hardy at the mo. I do know that the drivers for intrepid are a bit different, especially the implementation of the video drivers. This is linked to the aim in ubuntu of doing away with manual config of X in your xorg.conf file. I suggest you submit bug reports, and continue to install all the updates.
When I initially installed hardy, I had similar issues, however, it all works flawlessly now!
