Does anyone know of a good laptop that can dual boot ubuntu and windows vista? I would of course replace the hdd with a samsung hdd. Maybe a sony vaio or an old ibm thinkpad t40? I do not want it to be to expensive.
Pretty much any machine that can run either can run both. Just get something with a decent Nvidia card and 1GB or more RAM - you will be fine.
Install windows first, leaving enough space for linux (i.e. don't use the whole disk when installing), then install Ubuntu second. Ubuntu (or any linux, for that matter) will install a boot-loader for you that will allow you to chose Windows or Linux at boot (it's just a little message that comes up right after your BIOS test is complete).
Do you have any suggestions. Preferably something with a built-in webcam and something between $600-$900. Is it the same with Gentoo? Maybe something from tigerdirect.com or newegg.com. Or if you can suggest any other good sites. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also which version of gentoo and windows vista would be best for a laptop that you suggest? Again any help would be greatly appreciated.
