Dual boot startup problems

Hey all,

I installed kubuntu on my laptop as a dual boot with XP. Whenever I start the laptop up from off, kubuntu fails to recognize my keyboard. If I then restart the machine, everything works fine. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? Is it a well-documented problem? A google search didn't turn up much, but it did lead me here

Laptop info:

Vostro 1510
Intel Core duo
am unsure offhand of the technical specs, is there somewhere in the system I can print them out? :P

More information - it doesn't happen at every boot. I haven't been able to figure out what causes it, but it -could- be related to:

plugging in the power adapter/mouse/ethernet cable during startup - I don't always do this in the same order or at the same time, and these are the only variable external events that happen during the startup process.

read your logs. get a terminal

grep iC5 keyboard /var/log/messages |less

Will give you paged output of every mention of keyboard with 5 lines each side of context. You will probably see what's going on.

depending on your chipset you should be seeing ehci_hcd and one of uhci_hcd or ohci_hcd when you type

lsmod |grep usb

which shows the kernel is loading the right model
