Driver installation problems on Pavilion dv6 for Linux Mint version 15

I recently installed Linux Mint(version 15) on my HP Pavilion dv6. The PC is running slow, so I figured it could possibly be due to the fact that my Pavilion dv6's current drivers are not "Linux-friendly".(My PC also tends to over-heat and turns off almost instantaneously when I unplug the power cord. It also does this on Windows...)
I found a supposedly compatible driver for my PC's specs(Radeon 7000 series,...), yet every time I try and install it, I get a notification that the driver is not compatible with x and hence the installation fails.

Any ideas as to what I should do?

Thanks.

You need to fix this first. Overheating is caused by fans not working, blocked vent holes or thermal paste not present on the CPU.

Not sure where you got this from. It doesn't make sense. Mint comes with drivers ( call kernel modules in linux ) compiled for the kernel. There is a lot of detection done during install, so the correct drivers get loaded.

It appears you are concerned with the video driver by this

. Mint should have fairly current drivers available. If you are having problems with the video, post a description of the problem. Possibly then we can help.

I know this is an old thread, but for future reference to anyone coming across it, your laptop battery is probably fried, and not accepting a charge.
