Distributions

Since buying an Acer 9301 AWSMi 17 inch laptop with Windoze Vista pre installed. I have dumped Windoze and installed Ubuntu 7.04.

I have had the laptop for about 4 months, everything I need works, but I wonder if there is a better distro.

I need to open cad files (DXF, DWG etc)

I play video and music. I would like to use my usb WinTV nova which currently is not supported.
Maybe there is a file I need for this?

The only thing I find really annoying is Firefox keeps crashing.

Thanks

For CAD, the only thing I've ever had success reading dxf (no dwg support last I tried) with is QCad. It was a bit clunky I thought, but then again I don't do a lot of 2D stuff anymore so it might just be me. At work we use Solidworks, which is Windows only.

You might poke around the MythTV wiki to get your nova card working.

EDIT: I also blundered across this DWG viewer for linux. Not sure if it works...
