I have difficulties with people saying that something on Linux is worse than something on Windows.
Here's why:
- I haven't used Windows in a long, long time and such comparisons seem meaningless to me
- I do remember from the time I made the switch - the same machine that ran Windows was now running Linux, and I was hypersensitive to any sort of change, maybe even half expecting smoke to rise from the back - in a mental state such as this it is easy to get the impression that something is worse than it used to be (in my case it was network speed iirc).
- Windows is designed to make you feel good about it. Tweaking performance numbers so that they look better, maybe even having actual better font rendering (that was certainly true when I started using Linux, but it has come a loooong way since then!), so it's easy to fall into the trap of believing that it really is better.
Sorry to hear that any of this is giving you headaches.
But you haven't actually explained in objective, technical terms what is wrong with your system.
You say you
suspect pulse width modulation on laptop screens to be the issue, but then you do not tell us what you tried and
how exactly it didn't work (hint: always post commands issued & full output received).
