Angry display problem in mandriva 2006

i just got a copy of mandriva 2006 - and wow! everythings working great. except my display - it gives me a matrix fireworks after a few minutes and i have to log off and back again because i can't read anything. tried changing the screen res. and monitor configurations - it just wnt work.anyone got a clue?

If you havent done so you could try running the standard display VESA, it usually always somehow works. You could also rewrite the X config with some command like xf86config or just checking the x conf if there is anything wrong there.

Thanks for your reply - i'll try that. Been googling and it seems like the problem could be with outdated nvidia drivers? i'll post what happens here anyways.
