display adapter settings


I have a mecer bravo laptop which has a sis mirage graphics card,

I cant change the screen resolution from 800 x 600 to anything better.

im running ubuntu

please help

Posting the same question THREE TIMES in different forums won't get you help any faster. Also, how about providing some useful details, like what MODEL the laptop is, and what VERSION of Ubuntu, and what you tried??

Also, did you bother to look at the specs on the laptop? Could be that 800x600 is the best it can do.

In GNOME, it should be as easy as clicking through a few menus.
The main menu should be on the left of the top panel by default. Anyway, go to:

System -> Preferences -> Display

A screen with your monitor's settings should pop up. Now just click the drop-down menu that says 'Resolution' and pick a different size.

Try installing the xserver-xorg-video-sis package.

HI

I still only have 600 x 800 or 800 x 600 to choose from, nothing else???

HI

the model of laptop is mecer bravo u50sl1, I know it has better resolution seeting cause when i ran windows 7 it let me choose a much better display seeting: i think 1280 x 780 or something like lthat, Im running ubuntu 11.04, the graphics card sis mirare 717,

please help, I have been told to edit the x config, but im not sure were to begin??
