Difficulty booting Toshiba Satellite with new kernel
I have a Toshiba Satellite without CD-ROM running 2.2.19 that I want to upgrade to have network support. Currently it does not have pcmcia support. I was having difficulty loading individual packages via the floppy drive, as some necessary supporting packages where just to big to fit.
So I have complied a new bzdisk with pcmcia support on a different computer. The kernel boots fine from the floppy drive, it just cannot mount the root file system. Where do I need to change the configuration so that the kernel simply uses the existing root file system on the hard drive. Once I can gain access to the network, I plan on downloading all the package updates and new version of kernel source in order to run a "make install" for permanent kernel upgrade.
If I am making this harder than it needs to be, please somebody tell me. If there is an easier way to upgrade for pcmcia support, please suggest it.
Thanks.
