dialup providers

Could someone explain to me why Earthlink says I can't use my account with them to dial out with linmodem or any linux machine for that matter. Thanks

depends on how they authenticate

if they use their own software and you cannot just configure the info to dial in that is the most likely reason
A lot of ISP's I've delt with do not support anything but winblows

if you can configure the settings and no software is needed then lie (or if you have a win box don't) tell them you have winblows and get the info. then come back here if you need help to configure the connection
