LinuxQuestions.org - Dell Vostro 7140 Touchpad not working on linux kernel 4.18 +

Hello, I beg of your help here. I have spent 3 days trying to make my touchpad work on kernel 4.18 +. Previously on any 4.17 touchpad would work without issues but after an update it is very intermittent. I have updated my BIOS to the latest one A17 from September 2018. Tried switching from libinput drivers to synaptics (both displaying intermittent connectivity - I cannot point out what is doing it). I have read on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Touchpad_Synaptics that it might be a touchscreen issue and I have blacklisted i2c_hid module responisible for it to get my touchpad working again but to no avail.
