Dell Studio 14 - installing graphics driver screwed it up
I am using Fedora 12 on Dell Studio 14, which has a 512MB ATI Radeon Mobility 4350 card.
I was facing certain problems like video playing at 5x speed with no sound ... I decided to install the graphics driver. Installed the proprietary on from ati's website ... upon rebooting X didn't start ...
I rebooted again ( this time pressed ESC to observe the booting process) .. the screen flickered for 4 seconds while it said loading atd : and then things became still ..
I am able to use the system in text mode ... but can't start X. firing startx says /etc/X11/xorg.conf does not contain any valid screen (something similar)
what to do?
how can I uninstall the driver? or obtain a more reliable version?
