Dell Mini with Ubuntu
Has anyone tried running Ubuntu on a Dell Mini? They come preinstalled but I wasn't certain how beefy the processor is in those things. I guess if they can run Window$ then they can run Ubuntu.
Anyone tried?

Both my kids have Linux Mint running on their Dell mini 10v with no problems.I believe that Mint is based on Ubuntu so I'm guessing that its requirements will be much the same.

Dell Mini 9 w/Crunchbang
I ordered my Dell Mini 9 with Ubuntu. Tried Kubuntu 9.10 Remix for awhile to a bit too unstable for me, so I moved to #! Crunchbang Linux and now the mini is very happy.

I ended up buying my mini with ubuntu. I'm pretty happy with it. It's amazing how fast these little Atom processors are. $300 is dirt cheap for a laptop.

I think all the Dell Mini models have Atom processors. My Mini 10v has a dual core Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N270 (1.6 Ghz).

Actually Dual Core Atoms just came out this week. The earlier Atoms are single core Hypertreading only.
As for Dell, beware of the Dell Mini 10. (without the v) These run on the Z series Atoms using the Poulsbo chipset. They are notoriously bad on Linux.

I have Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 on an Acer Aspire One D250 netbook with Intel motherboard and N270 Atom processor, with the Atheros ar5007eg WLAN adapter and Atheros AR8132 Ethernet.
The computer came with Windows on it hence it's not made for Linux, but...
Everything works out of the box with Ubuntu Karmic, including SD Card Reader and webcam-mic.

Helped a friend set up Ubuntu Netbook Remix and then later Mandriva One on his Dell mini.
He likes Mandriva.
