Dell Latitude D810 No Sound Control FC4

I have a newly installed FC4 (up to date with yum) installed on a Dell Latitude D810 laptop with an Intel Corp 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC'97 Audio Controller installed using the snd-intel8x0 driver per the KDE Soundcard detection program.

The sound card works it's LOUD. The mute and volume buttons don't work (not too surprising). The FN-PGDN and FN-PGUP controls don't change the volume either.

After researching some, I tried the alsamixer program and changing settings there had no effect either.

While LOUD sound is better than no sound, I would like to be able to adjust it down some.

TIA

Window Mgr = KDE

Sorry -- I HATE getting incomplete info when asked for help, so I try to give it when asking...

$ rpm -qa | grep kdebase
kdebase-3.5.1-0.3.fc4

Thanks! -- kmix worked

it obviously wasn't a stupid question -- kmix did work and I can at least adjust the volume. Can anyone point me to some doco that would let me get the volume up/down rocker working and the mute bitton?
