I have decided not to get either I have two thinkpads till one kicks the bucket.

I did find my future one thinkpad
t440p. Mainly for the backlite keyboard. I get tried of the dim thinklight.

My partner worked for a company that used this model. Back than it had issues with the wifi card not now though.

I do have a second gen i3 desktop that I built years ago. It had mint on it at one time or another.

Just be aware that the Tx40 line has NO physical buttons whatsoever. Only the virtual buttons, and so amongst Thinkpad fans, it is generally the most maligned of all models. If you prefer physical buttons, just something to be aware of.

I use an USB mouse on all my laptops. I never really like the mouse pads.

Touch pads? Mouse pads are those rubber foam like things, often with goofy pictures you run the mouse across. )

I admit they have a learning curve, but I've come to work it just fine... puts "lap" in laptop.
