Dell Latitude D620 and Ubuntu 10.10 Problem with Hibernation
So I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop. First time this laptop ever had Linux installed.
I've been having a lot of issues with Ubuntu lately on both my computers.

So I configured the system so that if I close the lid on my laptop, it should go Hibernate. I closed the lid, but the screen did not go off.
(dark room, if there's any light coming from the screen even when the laptop is closed) So I opened it and the screen was black but not off (again light was coming from it). I tried to start it up again. The power light was still on but the screen was still black. Waited a few mins of nothing and then I had power down and reboot to get back up and running.

Another setting I had is that if it is idle for a certain amount of time it should Hibernate. Well it did Hibernate properly this time but again the same issue when trying to get it back up and running. I had to once again power down and reboot to get back into the system.

Is it just me having troubles with both computers at the same time or is there something up with Ubuntu 10.10?

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve my hibernation problem?

That happens with my aspire one netbook, with LinuxMint. Try suspend, does it do the same or have similar problems? If so, then were in the same boat. As far as I've researched, theres not much you can do but change the disto. :(
