Dell Inspiron 6000 Display Resolution

Hi,

I am using a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptp and am running Debian with KDE 3.4.

Everything works fine except for the resolution. The screen resolution is set to 1680x1050. However, the fonts now have a vertically compressed look and the fonts in the menu of windows of most applications are too small.

The video card is ATI radeon mobility. Any idea how I can fix the fonts ?

Is 1680x1050 the native resolution for the screen? If not, then the fonts would, as you suggested, look all weird.

yes, that is the native resolution. i'm waiting for mine to be delivered so i can play around with this issue myself /glutton for punishment/

heh. just realised how unhelpful that original response was. there's a couple of updates that you can run that sort that problem out. clicky here (i hope that link works - i don't know if you have to be a member of that forum to use the search terms...). if this doesn't cover what you're after, then the dri desktop site should, because they've got really, really comprehensive documentation for everything that their software does. this can be found aqui.
9 days, and i'll be swearing about this same problem, i promise you
