Dell Inspiron 5100 Problems with NIC

I have a Dell Inspiron 5100. I did a full install on Redhat 9.0
I downloaded the driver for the NIC and used the
tar xjf filename.tar.gz command. after that a /src folder was created with the header and class files. also there was a .gz file and the MakeFile. once i tried to run 'make' on the folder it gave me a lot of dereferencing pointer errors. only one of the three .o files were created. after that first one was created it says 'Error 1:'
what do i do???
