Dell Inspiron
I have just installed SUSE 10/Gnome on my Dell Insipron E1705 with the 17" widescreen WXGA LCD screen. Its native resolution is 1440X900 pixels, but yet I cannot set my resolution to anything better than 800X600. It is a Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Chipset Family. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, the 800X600 isn't going to cut it with me.

Are you using XOrg/XFree86? If so, what drivers are you using, and what are your settings?

Might want to check for new bios update. I had to do that when I installed Suse 10/64 bit on my Inspiron 5150 before i could get the graphics to work.

You will have to go to Dell and do a search for your laptop and find the download section that has all the new drivers for your laptop.

look in /etc/X11 for xorg.conf or XF86Config-4 that's how you tell or Suse10 description will tell you what it uses. Suse site should also have help for that video card. You can look thru linux on laptop site for your lappy and linux install reports that describe getting that video card optimally setup.
